TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- A man who raped and beat a woman to death in central Florida more than two decades ago is scheduled to be executed on Nov. 12.
Gov. Rick Scott signed a death warrant for 40-year-old Darius Kimbrough on Tuesday.
Authorities say Kimbrough broke into the Orlando apartment of 28-year-old Denise Collins as she slept in October 1991. Kimbrough sexually assaulted Collins and then beat her to death.
Police eventually connected Kimbrough to Collins' murder through DNA evidence. But before that, Kimbrough reportedly burglarized the apartment of another woman and sexually battered her, as well.
