St. Petersburg Coast Guard rescues nine people after boat hits jetty

CLEARWATER, Fla. -
9 people are rescued in Clearwater Sunday after their boat allided with the Clearwater Pass Jetty.
 
Coast Guard authorities responded to a call at around 3 a.m. that came in from a passerby along the water.
 
9 people were ejected from their 21-footer after the boat sped and crashed into the jetty.
 
Upon arrival the Coast Guard boat crew found all nine passengers sitting on board the jetty with medical complaints.
 
Passengers were transported to Morton Plant Hospital and Largo Medical.

Authorities are working on salvaging the vessel.

The incident is being investigated by FWC.
