GAINESVILLE, Fla -- Police say volunteers are no longer needed to search for a University of Florida student who has been missing since Sept. 20.

Gainesville police spokesman Ben Tobias said in a statement that the volunteer check-in post will close at 5 p.m. Friday.

Family and friends have been helping police search for 18-year-old Christian Aguilar who was last seen in a Gainesville Best Buy store with his 18-year-old friend Pedro Bravo. Bravo was charged with first-degree murder after police found that he bought a shovel and duct tape days before Aguilar disappeared.

Police say Bravo told them he beat Aguilar unconscious and left him in a parking lot.

The Gainesville Sun police say the areas they're searching for Aguilar's body are limited and require extra care.
