No residents were at home in the residence near Federal Highway or injured in the blaze that happened at 1 p.m.

But a pet cockatoo bird died in the smoke, agency spokeswoman Sandra King said.

Rescued were two Chihuahua dogs, one named Borom Bolo and the other, Princess, who is expecting puppies, King said.

Borom Bolo was unconscious and in critical condition. King said firefighters revived both dogs by administering oxygen and taking them to a nearby animal hospital.— LindaTrischitta
