MIAMI, Fla. - Criminal charges could be filed against the owner of Miami's Jungle Island , where a tiger jumped over a the wall on Saturday. The tiger got loose after a monkey escaped, and caught the eye of a bengal tiger.

The jungle cat and another tiger are being kept in holding cells while state officials investigate how the creature was able to scale the 14-foot high fence.

The escape could also spark a statewide regulation of fencing requirements for carnivores like tigers. The current ten foot requirement is exceeded by Jungle Island, but the twelve foot fence and two foot overhang was not enough to keep the tiger from escaping.

The owner could also face hundreds of dollars in fines.
