The Miami-Dade Police Department is searching for thieves who stormed a jewelry store while wearing motorcycle helmets and got away with an estimated $250,000 worth of jewelry.
The crime happened shortly after 10 a.m. Feb. 10 inside the Mall at 163 r d Street in North Miami Beach where the retailer C & S Jewelry is located.
Video shows one of the thieves leaping over a display case and holding an employee at gunpoint while the accomplice smashes a display case and removes various pieces of jewelry. Both of the thieves are then seen running out of the store and getting away.
Video surveillance also shows a man who is being sought only for questioning, according to police. He was in the store before the robbery requesting to see a certain piece of jewelry that was inside the same display case that was later smashed.
Detectives stressed that the man may have had nothing to do with the subsequent robbery.
Police ask anyone with information about the robbery or the man being sought for questioning to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477 or go to http://www.crimestopersmiami.com and select "Give a Tip."
