A Miami Gardens woman was arrested Tuesday, accused of throwing a syringe on the set of a South Florida talk show at a man accused of assisting with illegal cosmetic injections, according to Doral Police Chief Ricardo Gomez.
Brunetta Brown, 50, was charged with simple battery after police relied on a subpoena to obtain footage of the Jan. 25 taping of Telemundo 's "Pa'lante con Cristina" show, Gomez said.
After police reviewed the footage, where Brown allegedly threw the plastic syringe, she was arrested in Miami-Dade County, Gomez said.
Brown was attending the show's taping with her daughter Shaquanda Brown, 30.
Oneal Ron Morris is accused of posing as a doctor while injecting a toxic mixture of Fix-a-Flat tire sealant, mineral oil, cement and superglue into customers seeking fuller figures, Shaquanda Brown among them.
During and after the show, arguments broke out among the accused and some of those who said they had been victimized. Brunetta Brown walked onto the stage where Morris associate Corey Eubanks, 40, of Hollywood, was seated. She picked up a plastic syringe, being used as a prop, and threw it. Eubanks was struck above the left eyebrow, causing a minor scratch, according to the police report.
Police interviewed show employees, guests and witnesses in the audience and viewed video of the show. The footage also showed security guards trying to stop the dispute by restraining several people and repeatedly shouting at them to stop, the report stated.
In the aftermath, Eubanks and his two lawyers accused the Spanish-language show of providing inadequate security and letting the program spiral out of control. They also requested restraining orders against the people they suspect attacked Eubanks.
Eubanks has been free on bail since he and Morris were charged in connection with the "unlicensed practice of a healthcare profession." Eubanks, who has pleaded not guilty to the charges, went on the show to declare his innocence, attorney Jim Lewis said at the time.
Morris has an extensive criminal arrest record and is awaiting trial on the latest charges, court records show.
