ORLANDO - A concerned citizen who spotted a toddler clinging to a fourth-floor balcony of an Orlando-area hotel managed to catch the child, who was not injured.
Orange County Sheriff's spokeswoman Denise Rollins says "it was a miracle" the child wasn't injured in the fall, which happened just after 9 p.m. Wednesday.
Investigators say the child's parents were inside the hotel room and had not realized the child was on the balcony.
The good Samaritan, who Clickorlando.com identified as Helen Beard, a tourist from England, noticed the child on the balcony while in the hotel's first-floor pool area. Beard told deputies that it appeared that the girl slipped through a railing lining the walkway of the balcony.
The child was taken to a hospital for observation and did not appear to be hurt.
The Florida Department of Children and Families will investigate because the child was unattended.
