LAKE CITY, Fla. (AP) -- Authorities say a Lake City police officer is dead following house fire.
The Gainesville Sun reports the fire broke out early Thursday at the home of another Lake City officer, investigator David Greear. He got out of the house and suffered from minor injuries.
But Columbia County Fire Rescue crews found the body of Officer Brandi Jackson once the flames were extinguished.
Police spokesman Steve Shaw says flames were coming through the roof when officials arrived at the home.
Greear is a 14-year veteran of the department. Jackson had been with the department less than three months.
There was no word on how the fire started.
