NAPLES, Fla. —Authorities say a couple good Samaritans came to the rescue of a stranded scuba diver off Florida.

Cindy Tutino got separated from her family while diving Friday afternoon in the Gulf of Mexico. She tells the Naples Daily News that she tied her yellow bikini top to a flipper and waved it in the air to attract boaters.

The makeshift distress flag caught the eye of David and Lyn Hunerberg in their 58-foot vessel.

Tutino's husband and son were aboard their boat while she dove about 4 miles offshore.

By the time she surfaced, the boat had drifted away. Tutino started swimming for shore.

When her family noticed she was missing, they called authorities. The Hunerbergs joined the search and spotted Tutino about three-quarters of a mile from shore.
