OAKLAND, Fla. (AP) -- A South Florida deputy fatally shot a man who authorities say pointed a rifle at the deputy.
The Broward Sheriff's Office reports that deputies were called to Oakland Park Wednesday afternoon following reports of a man walking around with a rifle. A sergeant and a deputy reported following the man into the Green Tree apartment complex, where the man was approaching an occupied swimming pool.
The sergeant and deputy were reportedly in full uniform when they ordered the man to stop several times. Officials say the man turned and pointed the gun toward the deputy, who then opened fire.
The suspect was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died. His name wasn't immediately released.
No other injuries were reported.
The shooting remains under investigation.
