FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.-- A woman who police say left her newborn son in a Dumpster after telling hospital workers that she had had an abortion was arrested Monday, according to Broward jail records.

Alexandria Sladon-Marler is facing charges of manslaughter and child neglect causing great harm, the records show.

On Aug. 10, the newborn infant was found wrapped in linens outside the Fort Lauderdale Beach Palace Hotel and Suites, 3711 N. Ocean Blvd. Before the discovery, workers at Broward Health Medical Center told police they had treated a woman who had lied about having a recent abortion.

Sladon-Marler was questioned at that time, but no charges were filed because she was being treated at the hospital.
