HOLIDAY, Fla. - Pasco County authorities say a puppy found in a Holiday canal appears to be the victim of "extreme animal cruelty."

The 6-8 week-old pit-mix was spotted clinging to a floating palm frond by a passerby who called Animal Services.

An Animal Control officer responded and discovered the puppy "had medical tape and gauze wrapped around his neck, one ear was amputated and the other ear had a severe cut." The dog was suffering from hypothermia as well.

The black and white puppy was found near Flora Avenue and Basswood Drive.

Pasco Animal Services is asking the public's help. Anyone with information about the puppy and the circumstances leading to his injuries is asked to call 727-834-3216.
