8 inmates injured in prison transport van crash

— Eight inmates are being treated for various injuries at the hospital after the private prison transport van they were riding in crashed in north central Florida.

The Florida Highway Patrol tells WTXL TV (http://bit.ly/A0Z0kX ) that all eight inmates in the transport van were taken to the hospital with minor or serious injuries.

The crashed happened early Sunday morning on Interstate 10 in Suwannee County when a driver struck the van head-on. The driver of the van suffered minor injuries and the front passengers was critically injured.

Troopers say the van was carrying eight prisoners at the time.
