The owner of the Colorado theater where a gunman opened fire this summer says the facility will reopen in January.

The Denver Post reports ( http://bit.ly/VnqzcM ) Cinemark officials said in a letter to Aurora Mayor Steve Hogan that the theater would host specially invited guests Jan. 17, including Gov. John Hickenlooper and those affected by the attack.

Victims and their families will be able to visit the theater Jan. 15-16. Cinemark says it will offer a free showing of movies Jan. 18-20.

The theater shooting July 20 left 12 people dead and at least 58 others injured.
