Look out for a new virus on Twitter that will spam your account if you aren’t careful.
The “worm” is disguised as a service that allows you to see who has viewed your Twitter profile. But once you allow access to the application, it spams your account by sending out a tweet to all of your followers.
The tweet reads:
“I just viewed my TOP20 Profile STALKERS. I can't believe my EX is still checking me every day - http://goo.gl/dZEBX”
Clicking the link does not automatically infect your Twitter account with the worm--you first have to click Authorize.
If you do get hit with this Twitter virus, you can remove access to the application by going into your settings, then look under the “connection” tab. Locate the application and revoke access to your account.
The virus was spreading quickly over the weekend, at a speed of about 159 tweets per minute, according to TechCrunch.com.
