NASA will reveal the latest discoveries of an asteroid known as Vesta today at a press conference.

The conference starts at 2 p.m . and livescience.com reports scientists will present a new analysis of Vesta based on the latest observations from NASA's Dawn spacecraft.

The Dawn spacecraft has been orbiting the asteroid since last July, according to NASA.

Vesta is the brightest asteroid in the solar system and second most massive object in the asteroid belt, reports space.com.

Dawn, which cost $466 million, arrived in orbit around Vesta in July 2011 after launching in 2007.
