Palm Beach County tax collector unveils new texting tool to cut down on long lines at DMV

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. - A new text messaging tool can now help you cut down on long wait times to get a drivers license or state ID card.

Now, you can simply text waitpbc to 41411 and you will be sent a text message showing approximate wait times and the number of people currently in line for drivers license services.

The 2010 legislation transferred the job of issuing real ID drivers license from the DMV to local tax collectors. The Real ID Act meant real long lines at service centers because it requires everyone to come in person to prove identity.
