A new app is combining old weather alert radios with new smart phone technology.

The new iMap Mobile Weather Radio app will broadcast life-saving weather alerts and hazards on your mobile device.

The phone will literally come alive and issue 3 tones and talk you through your community's severe weather alert.

"We've been doing this weather alerting, weather safety for pushing over 11 years now. We just feel that this is a life saver, and it's going to reach people, where they're at," says Mike Gauthier of Weather Decision Technologies.

"Mobile Weather Radio is a product we designed to reach people where people live in today's world which is mobile, cellular."

Due to the recent tornado outbreak, the Mobile Weather Radio app can be downloaded for free to the first 100,000 customers on May 19th.
