Could Facebook be getting into the hardware game?
New York Times writer Nick Bilton reported , citing unnamed sources, that Facebook is hoping to release a smartphone by next year.
According to a CNET report, Bilton spoke to several Facebook employees and engineers involved in the project.
Bilton writes in his report that Facebook has hired more than six former Apple engineers who worked on the iPhone, and one who worked on the iPad.
CNET attempted to get comment from Facebook on the new product, but a representative declined the request, stating, "We don't comment in rumors and speculation."
