Facebook users had trouble accessing the social media website Monday morning, with many receiving an error message stating, "An error occurred. Please try again later."
Service disruptions started at approximately 8 a.m. ET.
Some who were able to log on to the site found they were unable to post a status update, instead receiving an error message which read, "There was a problem updating your status. Please try again later."
A Facebook spokesperson confirmed the problem to NBC News, but said it was now remedied:
Earlier this morning, while performing some network maintenance, we experienced an issue that prevented some users from posting to Facebook for a brief period of time. We resolved the issue quickly, and we are now back to 100%. We're sorry for any inconvenience we may have caused.
