Cell phones are an important part of many peoples' lives and a survey recently found that many would rather give up every day things than be out of touch for a week.
A study by TeleNav asked more than 500 U.S. mobile phone users older than 16 if they would rather give up their cell phones for a week versus things like exercise, shoes and toothbrushes.
One-third of the respondents — 70 percent of which were women — said they would be more willing to give up sex for a week than their mobile phone. Running shoes were kicked to the curb when more than half of the respondents said they would be more willing to give up exercise than their cell phones for a week.
When it came to guilty pleasures, 55 percent of respondents said they would be more willing to give up caffeine for a week rather than their cell phones, 63 percent would be more willing to give up chocolate and 70 percent would be willing to pass on alcohol.
Shoes were dispensable to 21 percent of respondents who said they would rather have their cell phones for a week.
Twenty-two percent of all respondents said they would rather give up their toothbrush than their phone for a week.
The results also showed smartphone users were more attached to their devices with iPhone users leading the pack. The iPhone users surveyed were more likely than the Android or BlackBerry users surveyed to choose their cell phones over sex, exercise or shoes.
