NASA has created a 3-D view of the violent storms that hit parts of Texas on Tuesday.

The animation shows the heights of the thunderclouds and rainfall in the northeastern part of the state.

Some of the storms reached up about 8 miles.

The National Weather Service says as many as 13 tornadoes touched down in Dallas and Arlington.

Nearly one-thousand homes were either damaged or destroyed.
