Florida Power & Light Co. employee severely burned working on South Bay utility pole

SOUTH BAY, Fla. -- A Florida Power & Light Co. employee was taken to a hospital Wednesday evening after suffering severe electrical burns to his hands and arms, Palm Beach County Fire-Rescue said.

The man was injured around 8 p.m. as crews were performing maintenance on a utility pole in the South Bay area, FPL spokesman Bryan Garner said.

Details about what caused the injury were not immediately available, Garner said.

The man, whose identity was not released, was flown by Trauma Hawk to a local hospital, Fire Rescue said. An update on his condition was not immediately available.
