PAHOKEE, Fla. — A 47-year-old man, known to some as the local ice cream man, was arrested for allegedly molesting a 7-year-old girl after she told her mom that he touched her inappropriately, authorities say.
Juan Prado, of Okeechobee, is being held in lieu of $75,000 bail after he was arrested Saturday on a charge of lewd molestation on a victim less than 12 years old.
Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputies responded to Larry's Suds & Duds Laundromat on East Main Street after the 7-year-old victim told her mother that the "local ice cream man" touched her in an inappropriate place over her clothing, according to a probable cause affidavit.
The victim and her mother - whose names are withheld in the report - both knew Prado before the incident.
The girl told her mother that it wasn't the first time Prado had done that, the affidavit says.
In an interview with deputies, Prado denied touching her in an inappropriate area and instead said he touched her "stomach."
It was after further questioning when Prado admitted he touched the girl inappropriately - once in the laundromat and once outside by his car, the affidavit says.
