PAHOKEE, Fla. - Amid cries for stopping the violence in the Glades area, a North Carolina couple in their 80s was carjacked while visiting a park surrounding Lake Okeechobee.
Deputies say an 86-year-old husband and his 84-year -wife took a trip out to Paul Rardin Park off State Road 715 on the Pahokee/Belle Glade line and just before noon.
While they were there investigators say the wife was approached by a man while she was outside of their tan Buick.
It was shortly after that when investigators say a man threw the elderly husband out of their car and stole it.
As he drove off he hit a tree and a post, but was later caught in Pahokee.
Detectives say the suspect is 33-year-old Napoleon Davis.
He's now facing felony charges for carjacking and battery on a person 65 or older.
The elderly man who was thrown out of the car was treated for minor injuries. Deputies say the two are now waiting for their car to be fixed.
