ORLANDO, Fla. - Down 21-0 halfway into the second quarter, the Glades Day Gator faithful that had packed into the Citrus Bowl, began to doubt their chances of repeating as 1B state champions. Kelvin Taylor was being shut down and the South Daytona-Warner Christian team was clicking on all cylinders.

Star sophomore RB Kelvin Taylor never gave up hope.

"I knew 100% that our team was going to win this game." Taylor said. "Our offensive line did a great job and like I told them, just keep blocking and we'll win this game." he added.

The offensive line and Taylor had a historical day. Kelvin Taylor finished with a state championship record 44 carries and finished with 248 yards and 5 TD's rushing.

"It means everything to these kids, they overcame a lot of adversity this season." head coach Pete Walker said of the victory. "First back to back state titles in Glades Day school history so these kids will go down with legendary status, I'm proud of them."

Late in the fourth on the go-ahead touchdown, Kelvin Taylor received a very questionable personal foul excessive celebration penalty and was ejected from the game, as it was his second of the game.

Aside from the one minor mistake Taylor made, head coach Pete Walker knows how special of a talent he has in Taylor, "He is an outstanding running back, the best football player I've ever coached. He is a competitor, he ran hard and made sure he got in the endzone on the last touchdown."

Today marked the first ever back to back state championship for Glades Day and their 7th overall in their programs history.
