Belle Glade shooting victim identified as Shaqoya Butler

BELLE GLADE, Fla. - One woman is dead after an early morning shooting in Belle Glade on Sunday.

A spokesperson with the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said they received several calls of shots fires near SW 9th and SW C streets.

Upon arrival, the passenger of a red, four-door Nissan said she and the driver were heading west on SW C Street when they heard the shots.

When she turned around, the driver, identified as Shaqoya Butler, 26, of 673 SW 6th Street, was slumped over the wheel of the car.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Officials pronounced Butler dead at the scene.

The passenger of the vehicle was not injured.

Detectives are investigating.
