FORT PIERCE, Fla. - A fatal accident on I-95 in St Lucie County has claimed the life of a Fort Pierce man.
The Florida Highway Patrol says that 65-year-old Terry Wayne Melton was riding a bicycle in the northbound lanes of I-95 shortly after 9 p.m., Wednesday.
Melton, according to the FHP report, was riding in the outside lane directly in the path of Paul Forage of Vero Beach.
Forage was unable to stop and hit the rear of the bicycle according to investigators.
The collision caused Melton to be ejected from his bike and he suffered fatal injuries according to the accident report.
The Florida Highway Patrol says that bicycles should not be on I-95.
The accident is currently under investigation by the FHP.
