PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - It's still difficult for Shane Gross to talk about the death of his sister, 21-year-old Tazra Gross, who died exactly one year ago Wednesday.
"To see her laying there, battered and bruised, not even looking like herself," he recalled, as tears filled his eyes.
Looking through her memorial Facebook posts, Shane remembers when Tazra was hit by a car, as she walked down her Chapman Avenue neighborhood in Port St. Lucie.
"To be ran down, pretty much like an animal in the street, no one deserves that," said Shane.
Port St. Lucie Detective Christopher D'Angelo said police are re-examining the case. What he calls the "suspicious circumstances" may point towards Tazra's former friends.
"We've started to believe that it was possibly an intentional act, instead of just a hit-and-run," said D'Angelo.
Tazra's family hopes flyers posted around town offering $10,000 as a reward, could help lead to new information.
If you know anything about the death of Tazra Gross, you are asked to contact Port St. Lucie police or Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers. The number is 1-800-273 TIPS.
Meantime, Shane hopes to keep Tazra's memory alive, and that the reward could finally lead to closure.
"There's a lot of unanswered questions, and a lot of things that don't add up," said Gross. "I believe someone has to know something. Every night when they go to sleep, it has to haunt them."
