PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - The Humane Society of St. Lucie County has received a $1,000 check from the Petco Foundation.
The group was chosen to be one of "100 Celebration" partners in the country.
"All of our pets that are adopted out of the shelter come with rabies vaccinations, a full veterinarian check, a microchip, and they are spayed or neutered," explained Rita Hart, Marketing and Outreach Coordinator for the St. Lucie County Humane Society. "So that money will go a long way to help the cats and dogs that are going out our doors."
The group is eligible to be one of ten winners of an additional $10,000 through Facebook votes. The top ten will be determined by the number of votes received on the Petco Foundation's Facebook page.

Click on "Vote to Save Lives"
Find the HSSLC entry on page 7 (bottom left of page)
You can vote once a day, every day until October 5th.
