Crash on I-95 southbound near St. Lucie West sends man to hospital

ST. LUCIE COUNTY -- A man was taken to a local hospital Thursday afternoon following an apparent crash on Interstate 95, a St. Lucie County Fire District spokeswoman said.

Crews were called at 2:10 p.m. to the incident, which happened about a half mile north of St. Lucie West Boulevard in the southbound lanes, Fire District spokeswoman Catherine Chaney said.

The driver was trapped in the vehicle, which was on its side, and was freed at about 2:30 p.m., Chaney said.

The man was taken to a local hospital by ground ambulance.

No other information was immediately available.
