PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. —A postal worker who died this morning from injuries suffered after being hit by a car in Port St. Lucie on Wednesday, has been identified as 53-year-old Juan Carlos Riestra, according to the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office.

Riestra's U.S. Postal Service truck was struck by a 16-year-old female driver from Jensen Beach in the 10600 block of Indian River Drive, just north of Walton Road in unincorporated St. Lucie County,

Deputies say Riestra was driving south as the other driver was heading north.  Authorities say the woman approached a slight right-hand curve and continued straight at the curve.  She crossed a double yellow line and sideswiped the mail truck causing it to rollover on its side, according to authorities.

Riestra, who was not wearing his seatbelt, fell out of the open driver's side door, and the vehicle rolled on top of him, according to deputies.

The woman in the other vehicle was transported by county fire rescue ambulance to the hospital where she was treated and released.

The case still remains under investigation.
