Firefighters in St. Lucie County have a half acre brush fire under control, that threatened a few homes.
The fire broke out just before noon Tuesday in the 48-hundred block of Oleander Avenue north of Midway Road.
At one point, the fire moved within 50 feet of one home. The weather presented additional challenges for fire crews.
"The wind was moving 7 miles an hour pushing the fire right toward the houses," said Melissa Yunas with the Florida Forest Service. "St. Lucie Fire-Rescue set up structure protection for what was threatened, and the Florida Forest Service came in with bulldozers and put in a containment line all the way around the fire and the house was saved."
No one was hurt.
