A woman accused of threatening to kill her husband after he went to Brazil and didn't bring her anything back was arrested on an aggravated assault charge.

The husband of Sandra Guedes, 36, told Port St. Lucie police that about midnight March 2 Guedes was upset because he brought her nothing back from Brazil, according to a recently released police report.

About five minutes later he went to sleep in their bedroom, he said. Minutes later, he said, Guedes came in and said she cut the band of a watch he bought for buddies while in Brazil. She also said she ripped a Harley-Davidson T-shirt and dumped out a bottle of cachaca.

Not to be confused with rum, cachaca (pronounced kah-SHAH-sah) is a Brazilian distilled spirit made from sugar cane juice. Cachaca mixed with muddled lime and sugar and served over ice is a hugely popular cocktail in Brazil known as a caipirinha (pronounced kie-purr-REEN-yah).

The husband told police he went to check on the items. Guedes, he said, came in with a roughly foot long knife and threatened to kill him if he returned to the bedroom.

Meanwhile, Guedes told police she poured out the cachaca, ripped the Harley shirt and cut the watch band.

She denied threatening to kill her husband.

Police saw an empty cachaca bottle, and the husband showed investigators the ripped shirt and watch band. He also identified the knife.

The report didn't state whether a T-shirt reading, "My husband went to Brazil and only brought me this stinkin' T-shirt," was involved.

Guedes, of the 200 block of Southwest Coconut Key Way in Port St. Lucie, was arrested on an aggravated assault charge.
