PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Lyle Dalgin tried to use his head as a battering ram, told police he'd bite off their ears and would demonstrate how a "street veteran" does things.
That's what Port St. Lucie police stated Dalgin, 33, did Feb. 18 after being taken into custody in connection with a battery, according to a recently released affidavit.
"This is (bull excrement), I always get locked up," Dalgin is quoted as saying.
Police about 2:20 a.m. went to Dalgin's listed address in the 2800 block of Southeast Pace Drive in Port St. Lucie where Dalgin, who looked "heavily intoxicated," said his dad punched him.
The dad said he and his wife went to get Dalgin at a drinking establishment identified as "Buckeyes." Once home, Dalgin asked for $200 and to take the vehicle to keep imbibing. The dad said no because Dalgin was drunk. Dalgin, the father said, punched him in the cheek area.
Dalgin is accused of trying to head butt an officer. He pulled away "attempting to kick and using his head as a battering ram."
Practically speaking, human heads are not known as being good battering rams.
Dalgin asked that his handcuffs be removed to fight police, saying he'd "bite our ears off" and demonstrate how a "street veteran" does things.
An infamous ear-biting incident happened in June 1997 when boxer Mike Tyson chomped a chunk of Evander Holyfield's ear during a Las Vegas re-match. Another noted ear injury occurred about 109 years earlier when Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh is thought to have severed an ear lobe with a razor blade after an altercation with his friend, the French artist Paul Gauguin.
Meanwhile, as Dalgin was taken to a hospital to be checked out, he said "'they' call him '(female dog)' everywhere he goes."
It wasn't immediately clear who "they" are or where "everywhere" is.
Dalgin was jailed on battery and resisting with violence charges.
