PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- A woman accused of hitting her husband with a bag of ice cream after spotting him with his "current girlfriend" was arrested, according to a recently released affidavit.

Some might say Dawn Elaine Barran, 45, on July 1 did not have good humor about seeing her husband and his beau in a business in Port St. Lucie.

Barran's husband and his girlfriend were shopping at a Walgreens in the 2900 block of Southwest Port St. Lucie Boulevard. As they shopped, Barran "happened to come inside the store as well," the affidavit states.

Barran appeared to give her husband a frosty greeting, starting to argue with him about having a girlfriend.

In general, women frown upon their husbands seeing other women, and it could be said a husband with a girlfriend may find his marital relationship on a rocky road.

Barran is accused of hitting her husband over the head with a bag of ice cream he just purchased. The ice cream flavor and brand were not listed in the affidavit, nor was mention made of any whipped cream or rainbow sprinkles.

A dairy product, ice cream features prominently in desserts such as the ice cream cone, ice cream sundae and ice cream sandwich. It's often eaten in ice cream parlors and at ice cream socials.

Ice cream, bagged or otherwise, is not commonly used as an offensive weapon.

Outside, Barran is said to have chased her hubby and pulled at his shirt. She also punched him with her car keys, the affidavit states.

Port St. Lucie police arrested Barran, of the 900 block of Southwest Dalton Avenue in Port St. Lucie, on a misdemeanor battery charge.
