PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - A St. Lucie County homeowner checking his property on Yamada Drive Saturday received a rude surprise.
First he discovered the chain link fence had been cut and rolled back. The home's lanai was also cut apart but the damage was worse inside.
Drywall had been cut and ripped out of the walls and a number of screens and windows were broken.
A 14 year-old Port St. Lucie teen faces felony criminal charges for vandalism that did 10-thousand dollars in damage.
"I was mad actually then all of a sudden I calmed down. I was just mad because when I was a kid I didn't do anything like that so I didn't really expect to see that," said Charles, who did not want his last name used.
Charles said he's very appreciative for the quick police work and the help that neighbors provided telling police that kids had been hanging around the property over the last week.
Officers expect to make more arrests.
