PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — A 9-month-old boy taken to a hospital Tuesday after being found in bathtub has died, police and rescue officials said Wednesday.
St. Lucie County Fire District crews about 2:45 p.m. Tuesday went to a home in the 1600 block of Southwest Angelico Lane after the child was found in a tub, said Catherine Chaney, Fire District spokeswoman.
The child's mother indicated she left the child unattended in the bathtub for 1 to 2 minutes, Chaney said. Arriving Fire District crews found law enforcement officials performing chest compressions on the child on the floor of a bedroom, she said.
Chaney said the child was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.
Officer Tom Nichols, Port St. Lucie Police spokesman, stated the child died, and that police are investigating.
No additional details were immediately available.
