PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - A 20-year-old motorcyclist died Wednesday afternoon after crashing against a private commuter bus at the intersection of Southeast Port St. Lucie Boulevard and Southeast Shipping Road, said Master Sgt. Frank Sabol, spokesman for Port St. Lucie Police Department.
The man was traveling east on Southeast Port St. Lucie Boulevard when a commuter bus, traveling west on Southeast Port St. Lucie Boulevard turned left, or south, onto Southeast Shipping Road.
As the bus made its turn, the young man slammed his Kawasaki motorcycle into the right side of the bus, Sabol said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no reports of injuries to the 70-year-old bus driver or the passengers, Sabol said.
Eastbound traffic on Southeast Port St. Lucie Boulevard was blocked at Southeast Midtown Road for several hours.
