PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - Police have arrested the parents of two twin toddlers found wandering alone around 1 p.m in Port St. Lucie.

The 18-month-olds were discovered at Gemini Lane and Thornhill Drive, a busy intersection.

Police say they had on shirts and diapers but no shoes.

"When the toddlers were found, they were found by a witness in the area who was walking down Starfish Avenue with them to see if they could find the home," said Port St. Lucie spokesman Tom Nichols.

The children had no markings on them and appeared to be in good health.

"No one reported these children missing. So what the police did, they brought the children back to the police department, DCF (Department of Children and Families) got involved and right now they're in the care of DCF," Nichols said.

Police say when they went to the home of the parents it was in disarray and two other children were found. They are also in the care of DCF.

Police charged the the parents, Jaimie and Vorne Matthew, with felony child neglect.

This story will be updated when more information is available.
