Police find pirated movies, music; 2 arrested in Port St. Lucie

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - Two men were arrested Tuesday after police found hundreds of unauthorized copies of movies and music titles in their vehicle, according to affidavits released Wednesday and a police spokesman.

Connell Oliver Adman, 32, of Boynton Beach, and 36-year-old Jamie Eugene Swelland, of the 2500 block of Southeast Grand Drive in Port St. Lucie, each were arrested on a felony charge related to possessing and intending to sell pirated or counterfeit music or videos, according to records and police.

Port St. Lucie police also arrested Adman on a misdemeanor driving with an expired license for more than six months charge.

The case began Tuesday when police went to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the 2700 block of Southwest Fondura Road. Police stopped the vehicle, a gray Mercury, at Southwest Fondura Road and Southwest Gatlin Boulevard.

Police saw a package of CDs with about 355 movie titles and 130 music titles.

"The CDs were a mixture of music by known national artists and several videos that are currently in theaters," an affidavit states.

According to affidavits, Adman and Swelland said they were trying to promote the music CDs and that they occasionally sell video CDs.

Witnesses told police the men had approached them and tried to sell them the merchandise, said Sgt. Frank Sabol, police spokesman.
