Man arrested after trying to break into home while in the nude, police report

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- A Port St. Lucie man was arrested Saturday after police say he tried to break into a home while in the nude.

Officers responded to the area of SE West Dunbrooke Circle and SE Parish Court around 3:17 a.m. after complaints of a nude man walking down the road.  

Police later discovered Daniel Hurtubise, 52, trying to open the rear sliding door at 1191 SE Parish Court, according to an arrest affidavit.

A responding officer asked Hurtubise to lie down on the ground, but he refused and continued to try to pry open the door, according to the incident report.

Officers said Hurtubise was then placed in handcuffs and asked to verify his address and personal information. He told police he was at his home at SE West Dunbooke Circle.

Officers report Hurtubise was "heavily intoxicated and belligerent" and could not explain why he was naked.

Witnesses told the responding officer that after they spotted Hurtubise walking down the street, they yelled at him and asked him what he was doing. According to witness accounts, Hurtubise then crept behind the home on Parish Court and began trying to open the door.

Hurtubise was taken to St. Lucie Medical Center where he was checked for possible illnesses and later cleared. He was then transported to the St. Lucie County Jail.

Hurtubise was charged with resisting arrest, loitering and prowling, disorderly intoxication and indecent exposure.
