Man allegedly reports fake Port St Lucie carjacking to get ride from cops to Hollywood, police say

Hector Felix Jr. had what some might consider an unusual way to get to Hollywood -- report a carjacking.

Felix's apparent travel plans began unraveling Feb. 9 as state and federal law enforcement officials -- including U.S. Marshals -- told Port St. Lucie police about the carjacking report, a recently released arrest affidavit states.

"Due to Hector indicating to the Marshals that he was not telling the truth, I placed him into custody for further investigation," the affidavit states.

Felix, 34, told police that, in fact, he wasn't carjacked. He said he just needed a ride to Hollywood in Broward County.

Felix said he concocted the bogus story hoping "that when law enforcement here investigated that we would call law enforcement in Hollywood (where he is from) and that law enforcement in Hollywood would come and escort him home," the affidavit states.

Instead of an escort home, Felix got an escort to the St. Lucie County jail on a misdemeanor false reports of commission of crimes charge.

Felix was arrested in the 2100 block of Southwest Gatlin Boulevard in Port St. Lucie, which is about 100 miles from Felix's listed home address in the 800 block of South 61st Terrace in Hollywood.

Felix was released Feb. 10 from jail on $1,500 bond, a sheriff's official said.

It wasn't immediately clear whether Felix made it to Hollywood.
