MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. - It was standing room only at the first school board meeting with Martin County's new superintendent and members.
Superintendent Laurie Gaylord and the district’s new School Board Members Michael DiTerlizzi, Rebecca Negron and Marsha Powers all took the oath of office Tuesday evening at the school board office.
Retired Judge Stewart Hersehy conducted the swearing-in ceremonies.
Gaylord's first official act was to remove the locks on the superintendent's office, since, she says, she wants an open-door policy.
"I want to have an open door policy and have the public feel welcome visiting,” said Superintendent Gaylord.
