A Port St. Lucie man was being held without bond Tuesday at the St. Lucie County Jail, charged with sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl, records show.
Jose A. Velasquez, 51, who lives in the 300 block of Bracken Road Northeast, assaulted the girl on two occasions, according to a Fort Pierce Police Department arrest affidavit.
According to the girl’s mother, the first incident occurred May 6, when Velasquez picked the child up at the bus stop and took her to his apartment, where she remained until her mother picked her up, the affidavit said.
The second occurred Thursday at a truck stop, where Velasquez stopped after his vehicle overheated, the affidavit said. Her mother was in the truck stop bathroom at the time, it said.
