PORT ST. LUCIE — A 19-year-old man accused over the weekend of crashing into another vehicle while driving intoxicated and being followed by a sheriff's deputy is facing charges, according to records obtained Monday.

Jonathan Michael Bilott, of the 9500 block of Southwest Flowermound Circle in Port St. Lucie, was arrested on charges including DUI with property damage, driving while license suspended with knowledge and reckless driving with property damage in connection with the Saturday morning incidents.

According to Port St. Lucie police, a Martin County sheriff's deputy was pursuing a silver Hyundai north on U.S. 1. The Hyundai crashed into a vehicle at Southeast Walton Road and U.S. 1, though all involved did not appear to be injured seriously.

The deputy said he paced the Hyundai at speeds greater than 70 mph. He said the vehicle drifted from the lane in which it was traveling and ran two red lights on U.S. 1.

Bilott told police he shouldn't have been driving because he'd been drinking and is on probation. He said he'd consumed about three pitchers of beer.

He said he was on probation after getting a DUI about four months ago. Bilott's license was suspended in May, the affidavit states.

When the deputy asked Bilott why he ran, he said, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, my girlfriend didn't want me to get in trouble."

He declined to take a breath test. He also declined to say where he'd been drinking, saying he didn't want to get other people in trouble.
