PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - A 49-year-old man died after being hit by a car while attempting to cross the street on Sunday night in Port St. Lucie.
James Boone Jr. was hit by a 2007 Scion as he was walking east on SE Port St. Lucie Boulevard attempting to cross S. US Highway 1, according to Port St. Lucie Police.
The driver of the Scion, Eduardo Gonzalez was driving north on S. US , just before the SE Port St. Lucie Boulevard intersection when he struck Boone with the left front of his car, according to authorities.
Boone suffered full body trauma injuries. St. Lucie County Fire Rescue transported Boone to St. Lucie Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.
The crash is still under investigation. Police does not anticipate any charges against Gonzalez stemming from this crash.
