PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - The housing crisis continues to affect many homeowners across the nation, especially in Florida.
One of the biggest problems people facing foreclosure deal with, is the lack of information about their options.
In an effort to help those inching closer to losing their home, the City of Port St. Lucie organized a workshop.
It gave homeowners the opportunity to walk in and talk one-on-one with a housing councelor.
Some left the Port St. Lucie Community Center feeling better. Others, who did not see their situation change, said the mortage companies continue to make the situation difficult.
"They don't know that we're real people out here that don't have jobs or are struggling to make it, and doing the best we can. It's just another house to them," said Peggy Howard, a Port St. Lucie homeowner.
The city will hold the workshop on February 3rd from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. Another foreclosure prevention workshop is also schedule for Febuary 4th from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Here is a list of what people should bring:
· Two most recent pay stubs
· Most recent Federal income tax return (including all schedules and W-2s)
· Most recent mortgage statements for both first and second mortgage (if applicable)
· Two most recent bank statements
