PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- A Walmart cashier and her father were arrested for working together in a theft scam, according to Port St. Lucie police.
The loss prevention department of a Port St. Lucie Walmart told police that on several occasions one of their cashiers, Sasha Marie Delacruz, 23, would ring up and then void merchandise for a specific customer.
She was observed by loss prevention either covering up the item's bar code or simply not ringing up the merchandise.
Loss prevention told PSLPD that this occurred on several locations and only with one particular customer.
While police were at the Wal-Mart located at 1675 SW St. Lucie West Boulevard, they located the customer, Ricardo A. Delacruz-Padilla, 48, and learned that he is the father of the cashier.
Both Sasha and Ricardo admitted to the thefts by either voiding the purchase or pretending to scan but not actually scanning the item.
They revealed to police that this had happened several times since December 2012.
The property stolen is estimated to be valued at around $1,270.
Both Sasha Delacruz and Ricardo Delacruz-Padilla were arrested for grand theft and transported to the St. Lucie County jail.
